VALLEY FREE RADIO WEBSTREAMING and HOW TO MAKE IT WORK

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACTIVATING THE VFR WEBSTREAM FROM A P.C:

1] Go to http://www.valleyfreeradio.org/

2] Under the "Popular Pages" menu on the left side of the screen, click
"Listen Now."

This will take you to http://www.valleyfreeradio.org/resources/listen-now/

3] Find the place on the page that says "Mp3 web streams:" and then look for
the letters in blue or purple below that which spell out "dsl".

Ignrore exhortations to use "Ogg Vorbis web streams," as they are for
techies.

4] Move your cursor over the blue or purple letters "dsl" below the text
"Mp3 web streams" and RIGHT click.

5] from the menu that appears, select "Copy Link Location."

Do not attempt to copy this link by other means such as "highlighting / Ctrl
C" etc. That will not work.

FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ON A P.C.:

Follow steps 1 -5 above, then,

6a] Open Windows Media Player

7a] Open "File" drop-down menu*

*[If your Windows Media Player is in 'cool hipster mode' it may not say
"File View Play Tools Help" near the top. Cool hipsters do not need
drop-down menus, apparently. If you do not see "File View Play Tools Help"
below the blue bar at the top of the Windows Media Player window, RIGHT
CLICK on the blue bar at the top of the Windows Media Player window. This
will bring up a menu with "File View Play Tools Help" in it. ]

8a] From the "File" drop-down menu, select "Open URL..." This will open the
"Open URL" dialog box.

9a] Place the cursor over the "Open:" box in the center of the dialog box.

10a] RIGHT click and select "Paste."

11a] Select "OK" at the bottom of the "Open URL" dialog box.

Now the player should attempt to connect to VFR's webstream. If it fails,
keep trying. Just now I got it working, then closed the window, tried
again, and got a dialog box telling me that "The download of the specified
resource has failed." I tried again thirty seconds later and connected. So
try this four or five times before you give up.

FOR iTUNES ON A P.C.:

Follow steps 1 -5 above, then,

6b] Open iTunes

7b] Chose "Advanced" from the drop-down menus at the top of the iTunes
window

8b] From the "Advanced" drop-down menu options, select "Open Stream."

9b] In the "Open Stream" dialog box, RIGHT click and chose "Paste."

10b] At the bottom of the "Open Stream" dialog box, click "OK."

For WINAMP on a P.C:

Follow steps 1 -5 above, then,

6c] Place cursor on bar at top of WINAMP.

7c] RIGHT click and select "Play >" from drop-down menu.

8c] Select "URL." This will open the "Open URL" dialog box.

9c] In "Open URL" dialog box, RIGHT click and chose "Paste."
